Questions about Ma Lin
How do I start a return at Ma Lin?
You email hello@ma-lin.uk first, and Má + Lin sends you its Returns & Exchanges Form, which you complete and send back by email. Once the form is approved, you post the items using a Royal Mail tracking service. Items sent back without first requesting a return are not accepted, and you are responsible for tracking your return safely back to Má + Lin.
How long does a Ma Lin refund take?
Má + Lin notifies you once it has received and inspected your return and tells you whether the refund is approved. If approved, the money goes back automatically to your original payment method. Your bank or card company may need extra time to process it. For faulty items without a replacement, refunds can take up to 30 days.
What does Ma Lin do if an item arrives faulty?
Má + Lin replaces a faulty item if a replacement is in stock; otherwise you choose between a credit note and a refund to your card for the value at the time of purchase. You should inspect the order on arrival and get in touch immediately. Fair wear and tear and damage from not following the wash instructions are not accepted as faults.
Does Ma Lin charge customs fees on deliveries abroad?
Má + Lin does not pay customs or duties: some deliveries outside the UK may incur additional charges, which the customer pays. For non-UK and non-EU orders, VAT is removed automatically at checkout and import VAT is payable on delivery. You should also allow extra time for customs clearance.
What is Ma Lin's clothing made of?
Má + Lin uses 100% certified European linen, and the shop describes its pieces as 100% Master of Linen®. The garments are ethically crafted in Portugal, and the brand says it is completely transparent about its supply chain, so that customers know where the raw materials come from and who made their clothes.
What does the name Ma Lin mean?
The name is a nod to linen: «Má (麻)» and «Lin» both mean linen, in Chinese and in French. It is also a wordplay on «Malin», which means clever in French. The brand pronounces it «ma-lain» and describes itself as the place where Chinese and French cultures meet to celebrate linen.
Does Ma Lin release seasonal collections?
Not in the traditional way. Má + Lin chooses not to follow the traditional fashion seasons because of the environmental impact of developing and producing each collection. Every linen piece is made in limited edition, so popular colours can sell out; the homepage currently lists some blouse colours as sold out.
Is Ma Lin's packaging recyclable?
Yes. Má + Lin states that its packaging is eco-friendly and made from recycled materials. The shop asks customers to recycle or reuse the packaging once they are done with it, to help close the loop. This matches the brand's slow fashion approach of «Buy less, Choose well, Make it last».
How can I contact Ma Lin customer service?
For general enquiries you can use the contact form on ma-lin.uk or email hello@ma-lin.uk. The same address handles return questions and gift card help. Má + Lin can also be found on Instagram as @ma_lin_online and on its Facebook page.
Can I use more than one Ma Lin voucher code per order?
Usually only one code can be used per order. If several codes are available on this page, compare them in your basket and choose the one that saves you most. If a code does not work, check for an expired date, a minimum spend or excluded products.
Ma Lin: linen blouses and slow fashion from a London label
Má + Lin, listed here as Ma Lin, is a label born in London in 2021 that makes linen clothing for women of all ages and body shapes. The shop on ma-lin.uk centres on French style inspired blouses, with shorts, dresses and digital gift cards alongside, and follows the motto «Buy less, Choose well, Make it last». A voucher code from save-up.co.uk makes your order cheaper when one is available.
A range built around linen blouses
The essentials on the homepage are mostly blouses, each offered in many colours and patterns. The Frances cropped blouse alone appears in shades such as jade, marigold, royal blue gingham, berry, black and white, plus versions with embroidered trims. The current collection is shown as SS26, and because pieces are made in limited edition, some colours are marked as sold out.
- Frances Linen Cropped Blouse, plain, gingham, striped and embroidered
- Claudine Linen Blouse in natural, primrose, black and white
- Roxane Linen Blouse
- Olivia Linen Shorts and Daisy Linen Dress
- Digital E-Gift Cards from £10.00 to £200.00
Made in Portugal from certified European linen
Every piece is ethically crafted in Portugal from 100% certified European linen, and the shop labels its fabric 100% Master of Linen®. The brand says it is fully transparent about its supply chain, so you can find out where the raw materials come from and who made your clothes. It does not follow the traditional fashion seasons, citing the environmental impact of each collection, and it ships in eco-friendly packaging made from recycled materials.
Delivery to the UK and abroad
UK orders over £200 ship free; below that, Royal Mail Standard costs £5.00 and Express £8.00. International parcels are fully tracked, with Europe at £25.00, USA and Canada at £10.00, Australia and New Zealand at £10.00 and the rest of the world at £35.00. Customs and duties outside the UK are paid by you. Returns are possible within 14 days of purchase after requesting a form by email; you pay the return postage, while UK exchanges are free.
How to save on your Ma Lin order
The free UK shipping threshold of £200 is the clearest saving, so it can pay to combine the pieces you plan to buy in one order. A voucher code goes into the voucher or promo code field in the basket or at checkout, and usually only one code works per order. Codes often exclude items that are already reduced, so compare them with any sale price first. Digital gift cards are sent by email, with no wrapping or shipping needed. A name where Chinese and French meet
The label describes itself as the place where Chinese and French cultures meet to celebrate linen, which it calls the world's most ancient and sustainable fabric. «Má (麻)» and «Lin» both mean linen in Chinese and French, and «Malin» means clever in French. The brand says it is on a mission to make linen the new black, starting with its blouses.
