Questions about Papersmiths
Does Papersmiths deliver to Europe?
No, not at the moment. Papersmiths paused EU shipping from Tuesday 10th December 2024 because of the new General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) and says it is trying to make the option available again. Shipping to the USA is also listed as temporarily suspended. Most other international locations can still be served; exact prices and timeframes are shown at checkout or can be requested from online@papersmiths.co.uk.
How much does international shipping cost at Papersmiths?
International orders travel with a fully tracked Royal Mail service, with delivery times of 2 to 10 days and prices starting at £12, depending on your location and the weight of the order. You are responsible for any customs duties in your country, and Papersmiths advises checking your country's customs calculator before ordering. If a customs bill goes unpaid, goods returned in saleable condition are refunded, but shipping charges are not.
What happens if I miss the Papersmiths DPD cut-off?
Call Papersmiths on 01273 696769. The express cut-off is 12pm Monday to Friday; orders placed before it leave the same day and arrive the next working day. If you miss the cut-off and need your order the next day, the team says it will always do its best to prioritise it. Nothing is posted from Friday 12pm until Monday 9am.
Who pays the return postage at Papersmiths?
You do. Papersmiths is not responsible for any return postage costs and recommends that you get a tracking number and insurance from your courier in case the parcel is lost or damaged. Returns go to Papersmiths Online Returns, 21 Sydney Street, Brighton, BN1 4EN. Items sent outside the return period, damaged, worn or without the original proof of purchase are sent back to you.
How do I return a gift I received from Papersmiths?
Email online@papersmiths.co.uk with your gift receipt to request a merchandise exchange or an online gift card. Papersmiths inspects the item and tells you whether the exchange or credit is approved. Exchanges are only offered for products in perfect condition, in their original packaging and from lines that are not discontinued, valued at the current retail price. Purchases not marked 'Gift' at the time of purchase do not qualify.
Can I return Papersmiths shop purchases online?
Store purchases follow the Return Policy printed on your receipt, and you need that receipt to make a return. Papersmiths says it cannot accept any returns or exchanges without the original proof of purchase. The 14-day email procedure described in the returns policy applies to online purchases, so keep the receipt from the Brighton or Chelsea shop.
When can I reach the Papersmiths customer service team?
The online team is available Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 3.00pm by email at online@papersmiths.co.uk or by phone on 01273 696769. That number belongs to the Brighton shop and customer service team; head office cannot be reached on it and should be contacted by email. Letters go to 21 Sydney Street, Brighton, BN1 4EN.
What does Papersmiths make itself?
Papersmiths sells its own stationery line designed in London alongside items from designers and makers around the world. Its 2027 diaries in Bordeaux and Ecru are made in England, for example the 2027 Diary in Bordeaux at £38.00, and its own Primo Pen is listed at £15.00. Its notebooks are bound by a UK bindery with over a century of practice.
Where are the Papersmiths shops?
Papersmiths has two shops: Pavilion Road in Chelsea, London, and Sydney Street in Brighton. The Brighton shop at 21 Sydney Street also handles same-day Click and Collect for online orders and is open for collections from 10am to 6pm every day. The business first opened in Bristol in 2013 before moving its shops to Brighton and London.
Why might a Papersmiths voucher code not work?
Common reasons are an expired code, a minimum spend that has not been reached or products excluded from the offer. Usually only one code can be used per order, so compare the available codes in your basket and keep the one that gives the bigger saving. If no code is live, the link on this page takes you straight to papersmiths.co.uk.
Papersmiths: stationery and paper goods for people who write things down
Papersmiths is a stationery shop with an online store and two shops, in Brighton and in Chelsea, London. Founded in 2013 in Bristol, it set out to create a place for people who value design, paper and the pleasure of putting pen to paper. You will find its own London-designed collection next to handpicked pieces from designers and makers across the globe: diaries, notebooks, pens, planners and gifts.
If you like to plan on paper, keep a journal or are looking for a gift for someone who writes, a voucher code from save-up.co.uk makes your Papersmiths order cheaper.
The Papersmiths range from diaries to fountain pens
The shop is organised both by product and by use. Under Explore you can browse by what you want to do, namely Write, Create, Plan, Record and Gift, instead of searching by product type. The classic categories cover everything from dated diaries to pencil refills.
- Diaries and calendars: dated and undated diaries, desktop planners
- Notebooks and journals: notebooks, purpose journals, sketchbooks, notepads, notebook bands
- Pens: ballpoint, fountain, artist and rollerball pens, plus refills
- Pencils: mechanical and wooden pencils, lead refills, pencil cases
- Accessories: pen clips and bands, tools
- Gifts: gift vouchers, gift sets and greetings cards
An own collection made in the UK
Papersmiths began making its own products in 2021 with its first notebooks and pens. The Primo Pen followed in 2022, and pocket stationery arrived in 2026. The notebooks are designed in-house and bound in the UK, 40 miles from the shop, by a bindery with over a century of practice. The 2027 diaries in Bordeaux and Ecru are made in England and are meant to pair with the pocket notebooks, notebook bands and everyday pens. The Papersmiths Journal on the website adds articles on looking after a notebook so it lasts longer and on gift ideas for occasions such as Father's Day.
Delivery, Click and Collect and returns
Within the UK you can choose between Royal Mail Tracked 48 and DPD 24 Hour for urgent stationery needs. Papersmiths says it subsidises its shipping costs and does not charge for packaging. In Brighton, Click and Collect is usually ready the same day, and you receive an email when your order can be picked up. Shipping to the EU and the USA is currently suspended, while most other international locations can still be served via Royal Mail.
Returns of online orders start with an email to the online team; personalised items and gift cards cannot be returned.
- Royal Mail Tracked 48: £3.95, free over £40
- DPD next business day: £7.95, free over £100
- Click and Collect: 21 Sydney Street, Brighton, 10am to 6pm every day
- Returns: notify within 14 days of receipt, return postage at your cost
How to save at Papersmiths
The simplest saving is in the delivery thresholds: once your basket passes £40, standard UK shipping costs nothing, and above £100 the next-day DPD service is free too. Add your voucher code in the checkout and check the total before paying, since usually only one code works per order. The shop also lists New In and gift sets, which are worth a look before the diary season. If you are also buying printer supplies or office basics, save-up.co.uk lists further shops from the «Office Supplies & Furniture» category with voucher codes, such as Priory Direct Voucher Codes, UK Office Direct Discount Codes, The Cartridge Centre Promo Code and Euroffice Voucher Code.
Shops, events and workshops in Brighton and Chelsea
Papersmiths is not only an online store. Under Visit, the website points to its two shops on Sydney Street in Brighton and Pavilion Road in Chelsea, where you can try pens in person, and to a section for events and workshops. The Brighton shop also doubles as the base for the customer service team, which you can reach Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 3.00pm on 01273 696769 or at online@papersmiths.co.uk. For shop purchases, keep your receipt: the return policy printed on it applies, and Papersmiths accepts no returns or exchanges without the original proof of purchase.
